Corner & Coaching Quality Index
Quantifying the hidden advantage in the corner.
Overview
This pillar analyzes the quality and impact of a fighter's coaching team during a match. It provides a unique edge by evaluating the strategic advice given between rounds, which often dictates the outcome of close fights.
What It Does
The index scores a fighter's corner based on several key factors. It assesses the historical performance of the head coach, particularly their record in guiding fighters to comeback victories. The system also analyzes the clarity of their mid-fight tactical instructions and the stability of the coaching team.
Why It Matters
A great corner can turn a losing fight into a win with the right adjustments. This pillar identifies which fighters have a strategic advantage, offering predictive power in live trading markets where momentum can shift dramatically between rounds.
How It Works
First, we compile a coach's fight history, focusing on wins where their fighter was losing on the scorecards. Second, we analyze broadcast audio and commentary from past fights to score the actionability of their advice. Finally, these metrics are weighted and combined to produce a single Corner Quality Index score for an upcoming fight.
Methodology
The final index is a weighted score: Index = (0.4 * Comeback Win Rate) + (0.35 * Tactical Clarity Score) + (0.25 * Coach Tenure). Comeback Win Rate is the percentage of wins achieved after being down on at least one judge's scorecard. Tactical Clarity is a 1-10 rating based on analysis of corner audio. Coach Tenure is measured in the number of consecutive fights with the athlete.
Edge & Advantage
Most bettors focus exclusively on the fighters' skills. This pillar provides an edge by analyzing the crucial third party in the fight, the coaching team, whose strategic input is often overlooked but decisive.
