How It Works

First, the system ingests low-latency data feeds from a live soccer match. It then calculates metrics like shots on target and dangerous attacks over the most recent 10 minutes. This 'momentum window' is compared to the baseline statistics for the entire match, generating a momentum score. A sharp increase in this score for one team signals a potential goal-scoring opportunity.

Methodology

A 'Momentum Score' is calculated using a weighted average over a rolling 10-minute window: Score = (0.5 * ShotsOnTarget_10m) + (0.3 * DangerousAttacks_10m) + (0.2 * PossessionPct_10m).
