Multi-Timeframe Moving Average Ribbon
Ride the crypto wave with trend alignment.
Overview
This pillar analyzes moving average ribbons across multiple timeframes to confirm trend strength and direction. It helps filter out market noise, providing a clearer picture of an asset's underlying momentum.
What It Does
The pillar plots a series of exponential moving averages (EMAs) on 4-hour, daily, and weekly charts to create a visual 'ribbon'. It then assesses the alignment, expansion, and compression of these ribbons. Full alignment across all timeframes indicates a high conviction trend that is supported by short-term traders, swing traders, and long-term investors alike.
Why It Matters
Crypto markets are notoriously volatile and prone to fakeouts on single timeframes. By requiring trend confirmation on multiple scales, this pillar provides a powerful filter to identify sustainable moves. This increases the probability of correctly predicting medium to long-term price action.
How It Works
First, the system calculates a stack of key EMAs, such as the 21, 55, and 200, for an asset on the 4-hour, daily, and weekly charts. Next, it checks for bullish or bearish alignment on each timeframe, where shorter EMAs are stacked above or below longer ones. Finally, it generates a composite score based on the degree of agreement across all three timeframes, highlighting assets with robust directional consensus.
Methodology
The core calculation uses a set of Exponential Moving Averages (21, 55, 200 periods). A bullish state is defined as Price > 21 EMA > 55 EMA > 200 EMA. A bearish state is the inverse. The pillar's final output is a weighted score (0-100) based on the state of each timeframe, with weights assigned as Weekly: 50%, Daily: 30%, 4-Hour: 20%.
Edge & Advantage
This pillar offers an edge by contextualizing short-term price action within the larger market trend, preventing overreactions to volatility and identifying high-probability entry points for trend-following predictions.
