How It Works

First, we compile a complete fight history for the assigned referee. We then calculate their specific TKO stoppage rate and normalize it against the average rate for the promotion and weight class. Finally, we adjust this baseline score using a 'Controversy Index' derived from media reports and fan sentiment on past stoppages.

Methodology

The core metric is the Referee Stoppage Rate (RSR), calculated as (Total Fights Ended by TKO / Total Fights Refereed). This is then compared to the Baseline Stoppage Rate (BSR) for the specific weight class over the last 36 months. The final Strictness Score is a weighted average of the RSR:BSR ratio and a qualitative Controversy Index (1-10 scale).
