What It Does

It continuously scrapes data from platforms like Twitter and Reddit, applying Natural Language Processing (NLP) to score posts related to specific crypto assets. This sentiment data is combined with social volume and engagement metrics. The result is an oscillator that visualizes the market's psychological state, moving between extreme fear and extreme greed.

How It Works

First, the system collects thousands of social media mentions for a target cryptocurrency in real-time. Each mention is then processed by an NLP model to assign a positive, negative, or neutral sentiment score. These scores are aggregated and weighted by volume to create a sentiment index, which is then normalized over a 30-day window to form an oscillator ranging from 0 (fear) to 100 (greed).

Methodology

The core calculation is a normalized sentiment oscillator. The formula is: Oscillator = (Current_Weighted_Sentiment - Min_Sentiment_30D) / (Max_Sentiment_30D - Min_Sentiment_30D) * 100. Weighted Sentiment is calculated by aggregating individual post scores, with weights applied based on author follower counts and post engagement to mitigate spam and bot activity. Analysis is performed on a rolling 24-hour basis.
