This pillar analyzes the true economic incentives of a Proof-of-Stake network by tracking staking participation and inflation-adjusted yield. It provides a clear signal of long-term holder confidence and network security.

What It Does

It calculates the percentage of a crypto asset's circulating supply that is actively staked, indicating investor conviction. More importantly, it computes the 'real yield' by subtracting the network's token inflation rate from the nominal staking APY. This reveals the actual purchasing power gain or loss for stakers.

Why It Matters

High nominal APYs can be misleading if inflation is higher. This pillar provides a crucial, forward-looking indicator of a network's economic sustainability. A positive and rising real yield attracts long-term capital and enhances security, often preceding price appreciation.

How It Works

First, the pillar aggregates on-chain data for the total circulating supply and the total amount of tokens locked in staking contracts. It then calculates the Staking Participation Rate. Concurrently, it pulls the protocol's nominal reward rate and its issuance schedule to determine the inflation rate, which is then subtracted to find the Real Reward Rate.

Methodology

Staking Participation Rate = (Total Tokens Staked / Circulating Supply) * 100. Real Reward Rate = Nominal Staking APY - Annual Token Inflation Rate. Analysis uses 7-day and 30-day moving averages to identify meaningful trends in both participation and real yield, filtering out daily noise.
