Whale Accumulation Heatmap

Track large wallet movements for market signals.

72hr Avg. Signal Lead Time

Overview

This pillar monitors the on-chain activity of large Bitcoin holders, known as 'whales'. By tracking whether these influential wallets are buying or selling, it provides a powerful leading indicator for potential market-moving price shifts.

What It Does

The Whale Accumulation Heatmap aggregates data from the Bitcoin blockchain to identify wallets holding between 1,000 and 10,000 BTC. It then calculates the net change in their collective balance over specific timeframes. This process reveals periods of strong accumulation (buying) or distribution (selling) by the market's most significant players.

Why It Matters

Whales often possess better information or a deeper market understanding. Their collective actions can create significant buy or sell pressure, making their behavior a valuable signal for predicting medium-term price direction before it's reflected in the market.

How It Works

First, the system scans the Bitcoin blockchain to identify all addresses holding 1k to 10k BTC. Next, it aggregates the total BTC held by this cohort on a daily basis. The system then calculates the 7-day and 30-day rolling change in this aggregate balance. Positive changes indicate accumulation, while negative changes signal distribution.

Methodology

The analysis identifies wallet addresses with balances between 1,000 and 10,000 BTC. The total aggregate balance of this cohort is calculated every 24 hours. The primary metric is the 30-day net position change, calculated as (Current_Balance - Balance_30_Days_Ago). An Accumulation Trend Score is derived by normalizing this change over a 90-day lookback period.

Edge & Advantage

This provides an edge by revealing institutional or high-net-worth conviction before it fully impacts price, offering a signal that precedes retail sentiment.
