What It Does

This pillar aggregates a player's past results at the current tournament's course. It calculates key performance metrics like strokes gained, average finishing position, and top-10 frequency. The analysis then compares these venue-specific stats to the player's baseline performance to identify specialists who consistently overperform at that location.

Why It Matters

Course familiarity and suitability are powerful, often underrated factors in golf. This pillar uncovers hidden value in players who may have poor recent form but possess a strong track record at a specific venue, countering common recency bias.

How It Works

First, the system collects all historical results for each player in the field at the event's specific course. It then calculates their average strokes gained and finishing position over a 5 to 10 year lookback period. Finally, it generates a 'Course Fit Score' by comparing these historical course stats to the player's career averages, highlighting significant positive or negative differentials.

Methodology

A weighted 'Course Fit Score' is calculated using a 7-year lookback at the venue. The formula is: (45% * Venue-Specific Strokes Gained Per Round) + (35% * Average Finishing Position Score) + (20% * Top-10 Finish Percentage). A minimum of two prior starts at the venue is required for a player to receive a score.
