Overview

This pillar analyzes the net movement of a crypto asset to and from centralized exchanges. It provides a direct signal of potential sell pressure or holding intent before it impacts market price.

What It Does

It aggregates on-chain transaction data for known exchange wallets, calculating the total volume of an asset moving in versus moving out. This delta reveals the immediate change in liquid supply available for trading. A positive delta, or net inflow, suggests an increase in sell-side pressure, while a negative delta indicates coins are moving to private wallets for holding.

Why It Matters

This is a powerful leading indicator of short-term price movements. By tracking the intentions of large holders, it provides an early warning of potential supply shocks and market volatility before they are reflected in price action.

How It Works

First, the system identifies and continuously tracks the wallets of all major centralized exchanges. It then monitors all on-chain transactions for a specific asset, like BTC or ETH, flowing into or out of these wallets. Finally, it calculates the net difference, Inflows minus Outflows, over a set time period to produce the net position delta.

Methodology

Calculated as: Σ(Inflows to Exchange Wallets) - Σ(Outflows from Exchange Wallets) over a rolling time window, typically 1h, 24h, or 7d. Data is aggregated across major CEXs like Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken. Positive values indicate a net inflow (bearish signal), while negative values indicate a net outflow (bullish signal).
