Influencer & Crowd Sentiment Ratio
Separate crypto signal from social media noise.
Overview
This pillar analyzes social media sentiment by distinguishing between historically accurate 'Smart Crowd' influencers and the general retail public. It provides a powerful edge by identifying divergences that often precede major price movements.
What It Does
The system ingests vast amounts of data from platforms like X (Twitter), Telegram, and Discord, applying Natural Language Processing (NLP) to score sentiment. It then classifies users into cohorts, such as 'Top Traders' and 'General Retail', based on their on-chain history and social influence. The core output is a ratio comparing the sentiment of the smart crowd to the general crowd for a specific crypto asset.
Why It Matters
In crypto, general public sentiment is often a contrarian indicator, with retail investors buying tops and selling bottoms. This pillar finds the predictive signal by focusing on what proven traders and influencers are saying, especially when their opinion differs from the masses. This divergence is a high-value indicator for imminent volatility.
How It Works
First, we collect real-time posts and messages related to specific crypto assets. Next, our NLP models assign a positive, negative, or neutral sentiment score to each piece of content. We then categorize the author into a 'Smart' or 'Retail' cohort. Finally, we calculate and track the ratio of net sentiment between these two groups over time.
Methodology
Sentiment is calculated using a fine-tuned BERT model trained on financial and crypto-specific language. User classification is a weighted score combining on-chain data (e.g., wallet PnL from Nansen), social graph analysis (follower quality), and historical prediction accuracy. The final ratio is calculated as: (Smart_Positive_Mentions / Smart_Total_Mentions) / (Retail_Positive_Mentions / Retail_Total_Mentions) over a rolling 24-hour window.
Edge & Advantage
This pillar moves beyond simple sentiment analysis to provide a powerful contrarian tool, giving you an edge when market hype misaligns with expert opinion.
