What It Does

The pillar calculates a rolling Tournament Performance Rating (TPR) using a player's last 20 official games. This live performance metric is then compared against their static, official FIDE ELO rating. The resulting 'delta' shows if a player is currently performing above or below their established strength, offering a powerful leading indicator.

Why It Matters

Official ELO ratings lag reality, often by weeks or a full month. This pillar provides a real-time signal of a player's true strength and momentum. This edge is crucial for predicting individual match outcomes and tournament performance.

How It Works

First, the system ingests results and opponent ratings from a player's 20 most recent official games. It then calculates the player's TPR based on these results. Finally, it subtracts the player's current FIDE ELO from this live TPR to generate the performance delta, a single number indicating their current form.

The core metric is the TPR Delta, calculated as: (Rolling_20_Game_TPR) - (Official_FIDE_ELO). The TPR is calculated using the standard formula: Average Rating of Opponents + (400 * (Wins - Losses) / 20). The 20-game window ensures a balance between responsiveness and statistical stability.
