Live Event Volatility & Sentiment
Trade market reactions as they happen.
Overview
Analyzes real-time sentiment and market data during live events like tech keynotes or earnings calls. This pillar provides an immediate signal on how the market is digesting new information, perfect for short-term, event-driven trading.
What It Does
This pillar ingests live audio and transcripts from key events, applying Natural Language Processing (NLP) to score sentiment in real time. It simultaneously monitors high-frequency trading data to detect unusual volume spikes and widening bid-ask spreads. The combination of sentiment and market activity generates a powerful, immediate signal of market reaction.
Why It Matters
It offers a significant speed advantage, capturing the market's gut reaction seconds after information is released. This allows traders to act on volatility and directional shifts before they are widely reported in news headlines or analyst summaries.
How It Works
First, the system connects to a live audio stream of a scheduled event, like a product launch. It then transcribes the audio and calculates a rolling sentiment score. Concurrently, it pulls Level 2 market data for the associated asset, flagging volume and spread anomalies that deviate from a pre-event baseline. These data streams are synthesized into a single volatility and sentiment indicator.
Methodology
Sentiment analysis is performed on 10-second rolling windows of live transcripts using a finance-tuned transformer model. A volume anomaly is triggered if 1-minute trade volume exceeds 3.5 standard deviations of the 60-minute moving average. Spread widening is flagged if the bid-ask spread increases by over 75% compared to the 15-minute pre-event average.
Edge & Advantage
This pillar provides a multi-second to multi-minute analytical lead over traders who rely on news feeds or post-event commentary.
