Macro Narrative Sentiment Dominance
Tracking the economic stories driving crypto prices.
Overview
Analyzes social media and news to identify the dominant macroeconomic narrative influencing crypto markets. This helps predict market direction by understanding if traders are viewing crypto as an inflation hedge, a risk-on tech asset, or something else.
What It Does
This pillar uses Natural Language Processing (NLP) to scan millions of social media posts and news articles for keywords related to major economic themes like inflation, interest rates, and geopolitical risk. It quantifies the volume of discussion for each narrative in the context of cryptocurrency. The output is a dominance score, showing which story is capturing the most attention from crypto traders and commentators.
Why It Matters
Crypto's correlation with traditional markets means macro events are key drivers. This pillar provides a real-time gauge of market psychology, revealing which economic fears or hopes are currently dictating trading behavior. This offers a crucial edge over purely technical or on-chain analysis.
How It Works
First, we define several key macro narratives and their associated keywords. Our system then ingests a constant stream of data from sources like Twitter, Reddit, and financial news outlets. It filters for crypto-related content and then scores each piece based on the presence of narrative keywords, calculating a daily dominance percentage for each theme.
Methodology
The core metric is the Narrative Dominance Score (NDS), calculated as: NDS_narrative = (Co-mentions of crypto & narrative keywords) / (Total co-mentions of crypto & all macro keywords). Data is collected over a rolling 24-hour window and smoothed with a 3-day exponential moving average to reduce noise. Sentiment is also scored for each narrative using a fine-tuned FinBERT model.
Edge & Advantage
It quantifies the 'why' behind market moves, providing a leading indicator of sentiment shifts before they are fully reflected in price action.
